The first Doctorpool cosplay!! (That we’ve heard of) check out the cosplayer’s facebook page! https://www.facebook.com/pages/Olween-Cosplay/150474018386473

Hello everyone! I wanted to touch on a little something today because this has come up quite a bit!

Now I’ve noticed across the net wherever Doctorpool is spread, there’s always some person (or like a ton of people) who likes to assert that Marvel and DC together is the most ridiculous thing ever conceived. There’s also the accusation that Doctorpool just throws things together for the sake of attracting attention.

Now- this hasn’t come up much on tumblr so I’m going to say this more as a source of entertainment for the fans rather than defending anything, because honestly it would take forever to go through all the links for our stuff and correct every comment we find hilariously wrong, and we don’t give enough of a damn whether people have the wrong idea.

First of all, there is an incredible amount of publications- OFFICIAL publications of Marvel and DC crossovers, and it’s ironic that people try to explain how impossible it is while simultaneously accusing us of being ignorant! Haha! :D Here is one of many sources for that http://goodcomics.comicbookresources.com/2006/08/22/top-five-dcmarvel-crossovers/

The crossovers are actually pretty iconic to avid comic book fans. If you ever wanna know the cannon answer of who would win in a fight Captain America vs Batman? Or see a hilarious combination of Captain America and Superman? Or know how Flash reacts to the Marvel world? I’d suggest looking into it!

That aside, the Marvel/DC thing being the main concern when this is obviously a crossover of many universes is beyond us. There are characters from Nickelodeon, Cartoon Network, BBC, etc, and that’s just from the issue 1 cover. It literally makes less sense to have the Doctor, a British tv BBC character combined with Deadpool, an American comic Marvel character, than it does to have a DC/Marvel crossover.

And as for “throwing characters in for attention” that certainly wasn’t our goal either. We aren’t adding any characters we aren’t already personally aware of or fans of. Nobody on our writing team is into, for example, Transformers. Sure we know about Transformers, but we don’t know or care enough about it to write it properly and certainly won’t force it in to appeal to the masses. That wouldn’t do it justice for the fans of Transformers now would it. We just wanted to go wild with the possibilities of our favorite characters having an appearance in the comics we make. And though we did ask for suggestions, we’re being careful not to stray from what we have any interest in.

I’m going to tell you all a quick story about the birth of Doctorpool.

It was the last night of December last year. Peder Fash (co-writer) and I (AnnaMaria Bryant) were texting each other. I was doodling a giant Deadpool poster, excited that my next Deadpool classic volume would come in the mail. Peder mentioned to me that he was working on a lego fanimation of Deadpool messing with the Doctor.

And as it was shortly after the new Christmas special of Doctor Who, and we both had these fun new Deadpool things, there we were both excited about all things Deadpool and the Doctor, so he sparked a thought and I exclaimed how awesome Deadpool would be as the Doctor.

He and I tossed ideas all night about where we could go with it. I sketched up drawings and drew that cover art and we were so excited. We grabbed some friends to help out. And for the following weeks we planned, very often, writing and posting these things online. We are genuinely excited about the project. We aren’t gaining much out of it, aside of the recognition I suppose, but people enjoy it so far. And I can tell it’s going to be a great source of entertainment for nerds out there. And that makes us super happy <3

Sorry for the long post but I wanted to clear those things up for those of you wondering!

P.S. if you’re an artist and you’d like to help us illustrate pages, please send us a message and show us your art! So far I’ve been doing a bulk of the work and I’m very swamped as I’m also working on Adler’s Watch and a myriad of other life-related things! -Anna
